I followed a lone pair of footsteps down the path I had come so accustomed to walking on my own. It was almost like I had a partner for once. But suddenly, they stopped. Almost like the one who had left them had vanished without a trace, with only the partially finished path they left behind to remember them by. What struck me was the symmetry. That feeling of believing that someone could walk through life with you when you thought you’d be alone for the journey, only for them to leave you with only the memories of where you’d been, and the constant wondering of where they could’ve gone.
